McFly's Dan missing nights out
MISSING HOME: Danny Jones
HE'S too busy with hugely popular pop band McFly to get home to Bolton much these days, but Danny Jones
still misses his nights out with pals up north.
"I used to go to Corbieres, 42nd Street and 5th Avenue in Manchester with my mates all the time - it was such
a laugh," he tells me, as McFly prepare to be rocketed to superstardom on the back of a new Hollywood movie and the official
single for this weekend's Sport Relief charity.
Sport Relief asked the band to record a version of the Queen classic Don't Stop Me Now, which will feature
on a double A-sided single with their new track, Please, Please, to be released on Monday.
"It's going to be a mad day - we've got a huge party planned, too," Danny says. "But first, we've got to run
that Sport Relief mile - and we've done no training at all. I reckon most of us will pass out at the end."
The year is off to a flying start for McFly as they have already crossed the Atlantic several times to promote
the release of their forthcoming Fox feature film, Just My Luck, in which they star (as themselves) alongside Hollywood flavour-of-the-month
The film was released in the UK on June 30 and Danny still can't quite believe it all happened.
He says: "The producer came over here, took one look at us and decided we'd be perfect for the part - they
wanted a real band, not actors. So, we flew over there and filmed it. Then we went out with Lindsay Lohan.
"We went after the day's shoot to a few bars she knows and we didn't get in until 10am.
"It was proper mad. But being in a full-on Hollywood movie is great."
McFly play the M.E.N. Arena on Friday, October 6 and Saturday, October 7, 2006. Tickets
are £21.50. To book call 0870 060 1768 or click here to book online.
